We made it out of Dublin proper today and took a fantastic train ride past the extraordinary Irish Sea out to Malahide Castle. Alone the way, we made a pit stop in Howeth. Because of the chilly weather, we opted to get on a bus instead of walking the rest of the way. We met the coolest kids! Our project has begun to morph from just exploring literary connections to exploring and forming amazing personal connections.
At the bus stop, smoking like dragons, we saw a group of the coolest kids in all of Ireland! We struck up a conversation and all hopped on the bus together. We discussed life for teens in Ireland, our grant objectives, their school experiences, sports, Hollywood and about a zillion other topics. These junior ambassadors of Irish culture gave us over thirty minutes of interview tape. We are so stoked and are writhing with anticipation of the soon to come posting of that video. We know that out students back in Tulsa will be pleasantly surprised by the similarities in teenagers and their culture.
Our new Irish buddies have agreed to start a pen pal blog, and we look forward to their comments. We are thrilled that Matt Peterson was not with us, because he would have fallen head over heels for these beautiful, lovely, articulate, friendly young women. We could not have made better friends.
We have so much more to add and post, but our internet connection has been a bit challenging. We are journaling and observing and collecting thoughts and anecdotes like crazy. This is an amazing country and we can wait until we have the opportunity to consistently blog. Upon our return, we will, of course, embed a variety of videos, pictures, observations, information, etc. about our trip.
Thank you so much to everyone who has visited our site, and our grateful thanks to those awesome folks we interviewed all over Dublin and the surrounding areas.
Thank you Fund For Teachers!
For those of you who were expecting promised emails, we are doing our very best, but can not seem to get access. Please be patient as we continue to look for a connection to our email.
We love all your comments!!!!!!!

Wow, okay let me start off by saying I'm so very jealous of you guys. Sounds like you are having a blast, and the place sounds beautiful. I'm so glad that i heard about your blog spot. It's very interesting to hear what you guys have to say. I miss being in high school already... and I'm going to miss having you guys as teachers...you three (Mr. & Mrs. Hoxie, and Mr. grimm) have been the best teachers that i could have had while at Rogers. I'm sure Mrs. Piper is a great teacher as well, wish i could have had her. I'm looking forward to reading more of your adventure. Have fun!
